Michigan State football target David Stone believes he’s ranked “too low”

After On3 released its latest recruiting rankings for the 2024 class, Michigan State football target David Stone took offense.

David Stone has been one of Michigan State football’s top targets for some time now. The 2024 defensive lineman from IMG Academy would be the headliner of the class.

On3 Sports has updated its 2024 class rankings, and Stone slots in at 19th in the entire nation. This is good enough to be one of the top four stars, and just shy of a five-star ranking. On3 seems to be stricter on who gets the elusive five-star rating, as only 11 players in their 2024 recruiting rankings hold that honor.

On3 is the only major recruiting site that doesn’t have Stone rated as a five-star prospect. He took to Twitter to share his opinion on that, tweeting out that On3 had him ranked “Too low.”

Michigan State football is used to feeling disrespected, so Stone could fit right in.

Everything indicates that it’s a two-team race in Stone’s recruitment between Michigan State and Oklahoma. Currently, On3 gives MSU a 44 percent chance at landing Stone and Oklahoma 38 percent.

However, on 247 Sports, their analysts give Oklahoma a steep lead in the recruitment — 80 percent of the crystal balls indicate Oklahoma and only 20 percent for the Spartans. You have to account for when the crystal balls were placed, however, as Stone hasn’t gotten any since December of 2022 and both of them were in favor of the Spartans.

Stone was recently in town for the Michigan State spring game, and his next stop will be in Norman for the Oklahoma spring game.

If he commits to Michigan State, he would be the seventh highest-ranked commit in Michigan State football history (247Sports).

Stone’s recruitment is one to keep an eye on, and he would be a massive get for MSU and a game-changer for the defense.
