The 2025 Michigan State football recruiting class took a hit on Monday night with the decommitment of Emmett Bork.
The three-star tight end who had been committed to the Spartans since May, pledging to Jonathan Smith and Co. just four days after receiving an offer from Michigan State. He jumped on that offer, visited Michigan State officially in June and then entered his senior year with his recruitment shut down.
On Monday, however, he flipped his commitment to the home-state Wisconsin Badgers.
Bork was projected to flip to Wisconsin on Oct. 27 on 247Sports via a crystal ball and then that projection came to fruition on Monday night as he decided to “stay home” as he posted on X.
While this is a tough loss for Smith and tight ends coach Brian Wozniak, but fortunately for them, they have a higher-ranked tight end committed in the 2025 class in Orchard Lake, Mich., prospect Jayden Savoury who is listed as No. 41 in the class at the position — Bork is No. 68, per the 247Sports Composite.
You hate to see a commit flip, but when you realize he’s doing so to stay close to home, it makes sense. Bork looked like he was going to be a solid addition to the program and Wozniak would’ve done wonders with him, but the tight end room in East Lansing is going to be just fine.
Along with Savoury coming in, Michigan State has Jack Velling likely coming back in 2025, Michael Masunas returning off an injury, Brennan Parachek who has a bright future, and Wyatt Hook as a freshman on the depth chart.
Bork is going to have a bright future at Wisconsin, but let’s hold off on hitting that panic button over a kid who wants to stay home.
Smith still has some work to do on the recruiting trail, however.
