Arguably the top quarterback target for Jonathan Smith and Michigan State football in the 2025 class will be visiting next month.
Michigan State football has a big visit from a top priority recruit coming up. The offseason is in full swing for the Spartans, and Jonathan Smith and his staff have hit the ground running. They’ve had a lot of work to do this offseason in a short amount of time, and it all appears to be coming together so far.
The staff’s main focus is now on recruiting the 2025 class, and the Spartans have an important visit on the horizon.
Three-star QB Leo Hannan
Three-star quarterback Leo Hannan announced on Tuesday that he will be making another trip to East Lansing. This trip will be on April 20, which is the date for the Spartans’ Spring Showcase.
Hannan is from Long Beach, Calif., and is the No. 731 player in the country and the No. 49 quarterback according to On3. However, 247Sports is much higher on Leo, slotting him as the No. 22 quarterback in the class.
Hannan had a very solid junior season, which was his first as a starter in high school. He led his team to an 8-6 record, completing 197-of-309 passes. Hannan also threw for 2,429 yards, 14 touchdowns, and nine interceptions. He isn’t just a threat in the air as he is a capable runner as well. During his junior season, he also ran the ball for 213 yards and six more touchdowns.
Could Leo commit on this visit?
There is a decent chance that Hannan could commit to Michigan State on this visit. The first reason I think this is because it will be his second visit to East Lansing this spring. His first visit came in February as Leo came for Jonathan Smith’s first Junior Day. So the fact he already wants to come back to Michigan State on his own dime all the way from California tells you how interested he is.
However, the biggest reason I think he could commit is because Jason Killop of On3 has made an official prediction for him to choose MSU. This is the only prediction so far in his recruitment, but it is a very telling sign.
A lot more information will come out as this visit occurs, but the Spartans have to love where they stand right now. Could he be the next Spartan quarterback? Time will tell, but I think there’s a very good chance.
