Michigan State football could be just a day away from landing its top defensive commit in the 2024 recruiting class.

We are officially one day away from a potentially massive Michigan State football recruiting haul.

On July 7, four-star receiver Nick Marsh and four-star linebacker Dylan Williams, both ranked in the top 200 nationally, are announcing their commitments.

For a couple of weeks now, Michigan State has been trending with Marsh. The former Spartan commit reopened his recruitment back in the spring and Penn State made a serious run. Since then, Michigan State has come in and Mel Tucker has acted as the closer, securing the final official visit and knocking it out of the park. The Spartans are the leaders for the Rive Rouge, Mich., native.

But that’s not all.

Williams, a Long Beach, Calif., product, took a trip to Michigan State in early June and seemed to have loved what he saw. Now, it looks like Michigan State isn’t just in it, but leading for the four-star. Oregon was the presumed favorite for the former USC commit but things have changed. Michigan State looks like the team to beat after Justin Thind and Corey Robinson placed crystal balls for the Spartans on Thursday.

You’ll need to subscribe to 247Sports to get the rationale behind the crystal balls, but it seems somewhat obvious. Williams fell in love with Michigan State on his visit and while he had one crystal ball to Oregon a few weeks ago, no Ducks insiders followed suit. No one close to Oregon felt good about it.

And now that his commitment is on July 7 along with Marsh, Michigan State fans should feel great.

The trend is heavy on Michigan State right now. It seems like the Spartans are on the verge of landing two top-200 composite recruits on Friday.

Williams is ranked the No. 181 overall recruit and 17th-best linebacker in the class. He holds over 30 offers and has a final list of MSU, Oregon, Washington, UCLA, and Miami.

Things look good for the good guys.
