Michigan State football unveiled an all-white uniform look for the upcoming Big Ten opener against Maryland.
It’s time time of the week again, folks: Michigan State football uniform reveal time.
For the second time this season, Michigan State has teased what uniforms it will be wearing for the upcoming game and while Week 1 was a classic green jersey and white pants look, Week 2 will be one of the newer combinations that fans love.
That’s right, we’re going with the all-white stormtrooper look heading into Maryland.
Personally, I love the all-white look because it’s clean and with the new helmet stripe, it looks even better.
It feels like Michigan State hasn’t had a ton of luck in these uniforms over the years since the white helmet came out, but I’m fairly certain the first time it was ever used was back in 2017 when Brian Lewerke ran wild against Western Michigan. There has been some good luck in these, but the Maryland game in 2022 comes to mind when the Spartans wore all-white and it was just an ugly offensive showing. And then last year against Iowa was another ugly one albeit with a different helmet. Oh, and there’s also the tunnel incident game where the Spartans donned this look.
But hey, the bad luck has to end some time, right?
I know Michigan State looked shaky in the opener against FAU, but I’m willing to give Jonathan Smith and Aidan Chiles the benefit of the doubt and say it was jitters-related. We’re going to learn a lot more about this team against a tough Maryland squad.
If Chiles can bounce back and play how he’s capable of playing and Nate Carter can shake off that ugly opener while the defense performs at a high level for a second straight game, we might be touting these white uniforms as good luck.
