Saturday’s Michigan State football matchup against a top-10 Washington team will be the most anticipated home game in years.
It’s been quite the week for Michigan State football.
Last Saturday, fans were celebrating a blowout win over Richmond to improve to 2-0, and then when a lot of them woke up on Sunday, the Spartans were without a head coach. Mel Tucker was suspended by the athletic department for his involvement in a harassment case.
We’re obviously not going to keep talking about that because there’s so much to look forward to this weekend.
In fact, the Washington game on Saturday might just be the most anticipated home game for Michigan State since Michigan came to town in 2021. There’s actually that much to look forward to.
This tweet from former linebacker Chris Frey Jr. inspired this article.
Obviously there’s a huge elephant in the room, but there’s just so much to look forward to this weekend. It’s hard not to get excited.
Frey touches on a lot of things I’m excited about. And this is why everyone should be pumped for this weekend’s game in East Lansing and the atmosphere should be electric:
- MSU has a legit shot at a top-10 upset.
- The defense has been playing much better.
- Noah Kim and Nathan Carter lead the Big Ten in passing and rushing, respectively.
- We have a kicker now.
- Mark Dantonio is back on the sidelines.
- Harlon Barnett is finally getting his opportunity.
- Probably the first look at the black uniforms.
- Alcohol is being sold at Spartan Stadium for the first time.
- Night game.
- Rose Bowl team celebration (hopefully we hear ‘Type of Way’ by Rich Homie Quan blasted on the speakers).
- A jam-packed Spartan Stadium.
- Spartan Walk will return to normal with the starting point at Kellogg (great for fans).
- Resounding support from fans and alumni.
- A chance to finally get the best of Michael Penix Jr.
- Revenge game for MSU.
- A chance to prove everyone wrong (chip on the shoulder is back, baby).
There are so many reasons to look forward to this game and honestly, I think I’m more excited about this weekend now than I was before this whole Tucker mess. I’m ready to run through a brick wall.
