The 2024 Michigan State football class isn’t quite wrapped up yet, but these early signees will be enrolling early.
Another signing day is in the books, and the excitement is back with Michigan State football. Jonathan Smith’s first signing class as the Spartans’ head coach isn’t filled with four and five-stars, but it has some valuable roster-building pieces.
While there’s still February’s National Signing Day to look forward to, this early signing class is going to provide Michigan State with some early enrollees. And out of the 18 prospects that signed with Michigan State on Wednesday, nine are enrolling early.
According to Stephen Brooks of 247Sports, these are the Spartans enrolling early:
It’s good to see some big offensive linemen joining the program this winter along with Nick Marsh who I believe could be the team’s WR1 early on in his career. There’s a good chance that he’ll be starting right away. Alessio Milivojevic will likely be the backup quarterback unless Smith dips into the portal for another one. Jaylen Thompson could see early snaps at corner and Brandon Tullis will add depth at running back. The ever-confident Justin Denson could make some noise early in the defensive backfield and Brady Pretzlaff will push the veteran linebackers. I’m curious to see if Ryland Jessee can push Milivojevic for the backup spot.
This is a solid incoming class of early enrollees and while it’s not exactly star-studded, it provides the roster with some much-needed depth and guys who could develop into valuable contributors down the line.
Smith has done a fantastic job with this class, vaulting it from the 90-range a few weeks ago up to No. 38 where it stood at the end of Early Signing Day on Wednesday. A nearly 60-spot rise is impressive for a coach who hasn’t even been in charge for a month.
Big things are coming for this new coaching regime.
