A pair of 2025 Michigan State football targets just announced their commitment dates. Will the Spartans land either one?

Now that we are in July, summer official visits have wrapped up and we have reached a recruiting dead period for a few weeks. Michigan State football ended the month of June with some major work accomplished. Overall, 27 targets took official visits to East Lansing last month. The Spartans were very selective on who they had come to campus and have landed commitments from several prospects.

Currently, the MSU 2025 recruiting class is standing at 14 players.

While there are still a few months to go before signing day, the class itself has taken shape. A couple more high priority targets who visited last month recently announced commitment dates. The Spartan staff and fans have been anxiously awaiting these two recruits decisions as they have been major targets so far. Well now we have confirmation of decision dates for these two.

Grant Beerman, LB

Grant Beerman is one of the higher-ranked players Michigan State has recruited this cycle. He’s a linebacker who stands 6-foot-4 and weighs about 220 pounds. Currently, Beerman is a top-425 player in the country per the 247Sports Composite. He is a three-star recruit currently but it would not surprise me if by signing day he is bumped to a four-star.

Beerman was named first-team All-Conference last season as a junior. He registered 79 total tackles with four sacks, two fumbles forced, and two pass breakups.

Hailing from West Chester, Ohio, he knows Midwest football and would be a big asset for the Spartan defense in the future. He also excels as much in the classroom as he does on the field. He holds a 4.1 cumulative GPA.

Beerman has narrowed his decision down to a top four. He is currently deciding between West Virginia, MSU, Purdue, and Cincinnati. He has identified proximity to home as one of the major reasons for his top team list. All four schools are relatively close in that regard. West Virginia is probably the closest school in terms of mileage. All four schools hosted him on official visits last month. He started at Cincinnati on the weekend of May 31, then Purdue followed next on the weekend of June 7 and MSU was next the weekend of June 14. West Virginia closed the month of visits on June 21.

MSU Twitter has taken to the cause by showing Beerman some major love on social media. He announced today that he will be making his decision later this week on July 6. Stay tuned for that announcement.

Bryson Williams, ATH

The other major Michigan State football target who announced his decision date recently is Bryson Williams. He plans to announce his decision on July 11.

Bryson is a three-star athlete from Orchard Lake, Mich. He holds 23 total offers and has narrowed his decision down to a top four as well. He will be deciding between MSU, Pittsburgh, Kansas, and Harvard. All four schools hosted him on official visits and Williams has stated that he could see himself really fitting in at each of them.

Michigan State is recruiting him to be a dual-threat player on offense. Keith Bhonapha (RBs coach) and Courtney Hawkins (WRs coach) have discussed having him used in both roles. Williams is very athletic and I could see gelling at both positions on offense. He could really be a jack-of-all-trades offensive weapon, similar to how the Lions try to utilize Jahmyr Gibbs. Not saying Williams will turn out to be Gibbs, but his versatility could be very similar.

Williams was on campus with the Spartans last on June 21. That was his most recent official visit so let’s hope the Spartans did enough to convince him on that visit. A potential X-factor in Bryson’s decision would be that two other of his Orchard Lake St. Mary’s teammates are already committed to MSU out of this cycle. MSU is also actively recruiting a fourth member of that team as well. Not to mention, Tom Izzo has been going after a big name from the Orchard Lake St. Mary’s basketball team in Trey McKenney.

Hopefully the OLSM-to-MSU pipeline can convince another to join up.
