Former Michigan State star Tyson Walker shined in his latest NBA Summer League appearance for the Phoenix Suns.

Former Michigan State basketball star Tyson Walker is making quite the name for himself this summer.

Walker unfortunately went undrafted in the 2024 NBA Draft and was also not picked up as a free agent. But he still is getting his chance this summer in the NBA Summer League with the Phoenix Suns.

The Suns added Walker to their Summer League roster, and so far he has not disappointed. Walker has been solid all summer, but he had one of his better games Friday night.

Walker scored 12 points on Friday in the Suns 115-90 win over the Milwaukee Bucks, his highest total yet. He also added five assists, two rebounds, and two steals as well. Walker also had a whopping +18 plus/minus in the 20 minutes he played as well.

This is Walker’s second quality game recently as he also had an eight-point, four-assist game this past Tuesday.

What does this mean for Tyson Walker’s NBA future?

While these games from Walker have been very good, they likely aren’t good enough to make an NBA roster full-time. Especially when you consider he’s had some bad games including scoring just one point on Wednesday in another game. But that doesn’t mean his NBA dreams are over.

If I had to guess, I would say there’s a high chance Walker will end up on a G-League team this season. And you never know what could happen after that. If he plays extremely well he could make an NBA roster in no time.

So while Walker’s Summer League hasn’t been perfect by any means, he’s still playing well enough that his NBA dreams shouldn’t be shattered yet.

The Suns have one final Summer League game on Saturday against the Sacramento Kings. Let’s hope Walker plays even better this game to give himself the best chance possible for a successful NBA future.
