What Michigan State Football Snap Counts Vs. Nebraska Reveal

On Saturday, Michigan State football began their Big Ten conference slate, taking on an undefeated Nebraska team. The upset-minded Spartans started strong, but self-inflicted errors and injuries proved to be their undoing, as Nebraska put up 24 points in the first half and could coast to a 31-13 win.

With conference play starting and a mind-boggling 13 injuries, it paved the way for there to be more action in the depth chart than initially anticipated, leading to some unique snap counts.

Here is how the snaps broke down and some thoughts for each side.

The Spartans saw Cam Edwards, Conner Moore, Ben Murawski, and Luka Vincic all suffer injuries during the contest, with some getting back to the field of play before the end. Parrish and Patterson split most of the remaining snaps, although a huge discrepancy in carries is a concern, as teams can start to tee off on pass vs. run when one is in the game in the future.

Samson Gash and Brandon Tullis each recorded their first snaps since the Eastern Michigan contest, with Gash being targeted on an ill-advised interception where the receiver did not work his way back to the ball.

Fancher saw his package pulled from the game after his own ill-advised interception. The wildcat package and jumbo package each saw reduced looks, along with Kenneth Williams receiving zero snaps on the week, when looking at packages that were seen less. Bryson Williams also saw a reduced role after a very slow start to 2026.

The Spartans saw Jordan Hall, Cam Stodghill, Michael Richard, NiJhay Burt, Dion Crawford, and Charles Brantley all suffer various injuries during the day. Additionally, Tre Bell, Tyran Chappell, and Brady Pretzlaff each were ruled out pre-game. Keshawn Williams also suffered a special teams injury and did not play.

Adam Shaw and DiMari Malone each got action with the linebacker injuries, alongside Stodghill making his first Spartan start. For Shaw, it was his first defensive snap. Keahnist Thompson saw a reduced role while Isaac Smith got extended run.

Andrew Brinson got the extensive action at corner with all the injuries, and it was his first game action since November 2024 due to injury.
