Michigan State’s Zeke the Wonderdog is set to perform at halftime of the Thursday Night Football game between the Jets and Patriots.

There are many traditions at Michigan State that take place every Saturday in the fall from the Spartans walking from Kellogg to Spartan Stadium before the game to fans enjoying a Melting Moments ice cream sandwich during. Every Saturday in the fall is sacred in East Lansing. But one tradition may rise above the rest (literally): Zeke the Wonderdog.

The four-legged superstar has been a staple of Michigan State halftimes and timeouts for years and everyone gets out of their seats when the frisbees come out and Zeke is spotted chasing them down and catching them in the end zone.

Aidan Chiles even took a liking to Zeke before he played his first game as a Spartan, saying that he wanted to meet the Wonderdog on his visit to Eat Lansing before he committed. The meeting didn’t happen because it would have apparently been a recruiting violation, but he did meet Zeke shortly after committing to Michigan State. That’s how big Zeke is in East Lansing.

Well, Zeke is going national.

In fact, Zeke’s Twitter account announced on Tuesday that he would be headed to New York to perform at halftime of the New York Jets vs. New England Patriots Thursday Night Football game.

This is a big deal.

Zeke the Wonderdog has long been a staple of East Lansing and everyone who has ever been to a Michigan State football game knows exactly who he is. Now he’s about to be known on a national level when he performs halftime in the Big Apple.

So if you’re going to the Jets game (for whatever reason), you’ll see a familiar face catching frisbees at halftime.

Oh, and maybe he’ll even catch some from Bryce Baringer.

Zeke for president.
