3 best bets for Michigan State basketball vs. Iowa

If you’re a bettor like myself, you’ve probably taken a gander at the bets for Thursday night’s Iowa vs. Michigan State basketball game.

The Spartans are coming off a tough loss at Indiana on Sunday in which they led by nine points early on and couldn’t keep up with the Hoosiers late. They dropped to 13-7 on the season and 5-4 in conference play.

Iowa, on the other hand, is 12-7 on the season and 4-4 in conference play and they’re looking to make some noise before the NCAA Tournament in order to make the field.

There’s a lot on the line Thursday night.

Let’s dive into some of my favorite bets for the big game.

1. Over 146.5 (-110)

This one is pretty easy of a choice and I’m surprised the over/under is still this low. Michigan State plays pretty good defense, but Iowa has only been held under 75 four times all season long and averages over 81 points per game.

So if Iowa even has an average game, it scores 75, or so, and I think Michigan State wins so that puts this game over 150, at least.

I think we’ll see a lot of points on Thursday night.

2. Jaden Akins 2+ 3-pointers (+102)

I really like this one as well because Jaden Akins has been on fire lately and he’s facing one of the worst defenses in the Big Ten. Akins has made three 3-pointers in each of the past two games and at least two in three of the last five.

Akins is one of the best shooters on the team and I think he has a big night.

3. Joey Hauser 10+ rebounds (+198)

OK, I’m not as sold on this one as being a lock like the first two, but the value is there. Joey Hauser hasn’t had 10-plus rebounds in four games but that ended a stretch of 4-of-5 with 10-plus. He’s due.

Plus, Michigan State basketball had to have practiced the infamous war drill this week after struggling on the glass in two straight games. I think Hauser will be aggressive on the glass and finish with a double-double.
