Michigan State fans love themselves some Jayden Reed, and now the rest of the NFL is starting to realize his potential.

Michigan State fans are no strangers to watching Jayden Reed make highlight-worthy plays on a regular basis. Now, the nation is watching him shine on one of the NFL’s most storied franchises.

Through 11 weeks of the NFL season, Reed is one of the most impactful rookie wide receivers. Reed is fifth in all-purpose yards for rookie wide receivers in the league with 528. He trails Puka Nacua, Tank Dell, Jordan Addison, and Zay Flowers. For context, Reed has 51 targets this year while those ahead of him are seeing much higher volume. Nucua has 103, Addison 72, Flowers 72, and Dell 67.

Despite the lower target volume, Reed is also third on the list of touchdowns scored for rookie wide receivers with five. Addison comes in first with seven and Dell is second with six.

When you stack Reed’s production up against other young players around the league, one thing is clear: he’s special. Bringing his numbers closer to home on his own team begs another question. Is he already the best wide receiver in Green Bay?

With 463 receiving yards on the season so far, Reed is already leading the Packers in yards. Reed and Doubs both have 10 games played while the other primary wide receiver in Green Bay, Christian Watson only has seven due to injury. Doubs leads the team with seven receiving touchdowns, Watson has two and Reed has four but also added an additional touchdown with a rush attempt. Green Bay has started getting more creative in getting Reed the ball. Incorporating him on reverses and in the run game will only aid this offense.

Beyond these raw stats, another shows Reed just might be the most important wide receiver in Green Bay already as a budding rookie. According to PFF, Green Bay quarterback Jordan Love has the highest passer rating when he’s targeting Reed at 116.9. His passer rating drops to 97.2 when targeting Doubs and 45.5 when targeting Watson.

Bottom line, when the ball comes to Reed, he makes plays.

It’s likely Reed will continue to ascend through the rest of this season and add to his already impressive stats. Reed is making himself a household name in Green Bay and certainly a favorite of his own quarterback.
