Jase Richardson is following his dad’s footsteps, but he admits that he’s is not his favorite Michigan State basketball player ever.

Moneyball is in full swing and Michigan State basketball fans get to watch their favorite players dominate the defense-optional league once again.

It’s always fun to watch Moneyball every summer not just because the veteran Spartan players put up video game-like numbers, but also because of the newcomers that get to show what they bring to the table.

We’ve seen Frankie Fidler dominate, we’ve seen Szymon Zapala get better and even shoot some threes, we’ve seen Kur Teng light it up from deep, Jesse McCulloch even had a huge game last week, and Jase Richardson is showing that he should probably get some decent playing time.

While one of the best parts of the summer for MSU hoops fans is Moneyball, I personally like the freshman intro videos that the official account posts on Twitter where we get to know more about the newcomers.

And Jase Richardson’s video had some really good tidbits, including the fact that his dad isn’t his favorite Spartan hooper of all time.

Sure, the question was “Who’s my favorite MSU player besides my dad?” but he answered it as if Jason Richardson wasn’t going to be his choice anyway.

Jase said, “My favorite one, actually, my No. 1 is Cassius. Cassius is my No. 1 and I’d probably put my dad at two.”

That’s a little surprising to hear since Jason Richardson is one of the most electric Spartans of all time. He helped lead Michigan State to a couple of Final Fours before heading to the NBA and winning some dunk contests while also piecing together a 15-year NBA career.

Cassius Winston is a good choice, though. Maybe Jase models his game after one of the greatest point guards to ever come through East Lansing. While Jase is more athletic, he could be just as good when it comes to shooting and dishing the rock.

Either way, this was a great answer and I’m sure Jason got a little chuckle out of it.
