Michigan State football: 4-star RB Anthony Carrie projected to recommit

Four-star running back Anthony Carrie is projected to re-commit to Michigan State football after receiving a crystal ball.

It’s exciting to finally have positive recruiting news back in the fold for Michigan State football ever since Mel Tucker was fired back in September.

Michigan State hired Jonathan Smith on Nov. 25 and from a recruiting perspective there have been two very positive developments. The first was four-star wide receiver Nick Marsh doubling down on his pledge to the Spartans and the second happened today. Four-star running back Anthony ‘Scoota’ Carrie was crystal ball’d to recommit to Michigan State by NC State insider, Michael Clark (Carrie previously held a CB to NC State prior to the change).

The 6-foot-, 200-pound running back is from Tampa, Fla., and holds over 50 offers including Georgia, Alabama, Oregon, and Ohio State. The Carrollwood Day product averaged 7.5 yards per carry and scored 12 rushing touchdowns his senior season.

Carrie was one of the top recruits in the 2024 class for MSU this summer before he decommitted recently on Nov. 20. It sounds like Jonathan Smith and his staff have made positive progress with Carrie and word on the street is there could be an official visit scheduled in the upcoming weeks.

It’s a great feeling see things trend upward after such a tough season for Michigan State football. This one is especially sweet because if Carrie does in fact recommit to the Spartans that would make it two players in this class to recommit after backing out on their original pledge. It’s very rare in general for a player to recommit, let alone have two players in the same class do so.

This would be a huge early win for new Michigan State head coach Jonathan Smith on the recruiting trail especially while he is still developing his recruiting chops in the area.

Things are getting exciting in East Lansing.
