Michigan State football offered a four-star top-150 receiver in the 2025 class on Saturday in Matt Zollers.
Jonathan Smith and his staff continue to hand out big time offers on the recruiting trail. We’ve seen Michigan State football offer talented offensive tackles and wide receivers already and now it’s time for an extremely talented quarterback.
Four-star QB Matt Zollers
Matt Zollers is a four-star quarterback from Royersford, Penn. He has great size for a quarterback at 6-foot-3 and 205 pounds and 247Sports ranks him as the No. 147 overall player in his class and the No. 8 quarterback as well.
Many other schools are also after Zollers as well. He also holds offers from Penn State, Pittsburgh, Virginia Tech, and Syracuse. While no crystal ball predictions have been made for Matt yet, one recruiting site has a clear favorite in his recruitment as of today.
On3 has Penn State as the favorite to win this recruitment, giving them a 65 percent chance to win. They also have Pittsburgh in second place with a 29 percent chance to land Matt as well. I personally never put much trust in these percentages, especially this early in a recruitment, but it’s no surprise these two schools are the frontrunners in their eyes. These two schools are the two big schools from Zollers’ home state, so it makes sense they are recruiting him hard. Schools being close to home can play a role in a recruit’s decision, but we’ve seen countless times when that hasn’t mattered as well.
Next step for MSU
The next step for Michigan State football is to get Zollers to come to East Lansing on a visit. One date coming up that would be an option for him if he is interested is Feb. 3. This will be MSU’s first junior day this year and many other recruits have announced they are already coming.
This weekend is obviously not that long from now, so it could be difficult to get him to come. But if Zollers does come in February, that would show us that we are firmly in the race to win his recruitment.
