Michigan State football: Aidan Chiles ranked No. 1 transfer portal QB

Michigan State football has emerged as the favorite to land the newly-ranked No. 1 transfer portal quarterback, Aidan Chiles.

The Aidan Chiles hype train is about to leave the station as Michigan State football fans are gearing up for him potentially being the QB1 for the next couple of years, at least.

Jonathan Smith recruited Chiles at Oregon State and he backed up former five-star DJ Uiagalelei in 2023 as a true freshman. Many believe that he was the most talented quarterback on the roster (he was) but he just didn’t have the experience. Now that he has a full year under his belt, he is about to break out in a big way.

Whoever lands Chiles (Michigan State) is going to get a future superstar.

And most experts agree. In fact, 247Sports updated their portal rankings on Monday with over 1,000 new names entering the market and out of everyone, Chiles was ranked the No. 2 overall transfer. And he’s ranked the No. 1 transfer quarterback.

This is incredibly impressive when you consider what quarterbacks are currently in the portal.

Just take a look at some of these names:

• Dante Moore
• Cameron Ward
• Will Howard
• Riley Leonard
• Dillon Gabriel
• Kyle McCord
• Will Rogers
• Tyler Van Dyke
• Grayson McCall
• DJ Uiagalelei

That’s a list of guys who either were highly rated out of high school (five-star status) or who’ve had very productive college careers to this point and could start essentially anywhere they choose. And yet the experts believe Chiles is better than all of them.

That should tell you what Michigan State could potentially be getting.

Chiles is an athletic freak who finished this season with just over 300 passing yards and just under 100 rushing yards, but he had seven touchdowns in limited action and zero interceptions with a 68 percent completion rate. He’s a stud.

If Michigan State can land Chiles, it would be the biggest recruiting win since Kenneth Walker III, easily.
