Michigan State football: Andrew Dennis takes care of rival fan calling him “mediocre”

Michigan State football commit Andrew Dennis clapped back at a hater who called him “mediocre at best” on Twitter.

The Michigan-Michigan State football rivalry never stops. I mean, really, it’s the middle of the summer and the only news is on the recruiting trail and the hate is stronger than ever.

Spartan and Wolverine fans are going at it on a daily basis as the rivalry just simply does not sleep or take any breaks. It’s actually almost worse during the offseason. Michigan fans trolling Michigan State recruiting and the return serve is usually about Mel Tucker being 2-1 vs. Jim Harbaugh.

But sometimes the trash talk gets ugly or goes too far.

That’s often the case in recruiting, especially when grown adults take shots at high school kids because they committed to a school that they don’t like.

Andrew Dennis caught a stray on Friday afternoon after a Michigan fan posted the composite rankings for the state’s top players. On 247Sports, Dennis is ranked the No. 4 player in the state but on the composite, he’s No. 8 and the Michigan fan was trying to make a point.

A different fan responded with some hate for Dennis to which the newly-minted four-star responded.

The rival fan called Dennis “mediocre at best” and Dennis took the high road in his response.

This is a prime example of “put your money where your mouth is.” Dennis was called “mediocre” by a rival fan and he offered to buy him a ticket to their first home game so he can prove him wrong in person. Now that’s what you call the perfect clap back.

No trash talk back. No classless response. Just a good ‘ol “come watch me live and find out” response.

The fan did apologize and wish him luck so he ate his humble pie.

Dennis has been a Spartan for just a few months but he’s already becoming a fan favorite. He’s been helping tremendously on the recruiting trail and now he’s owning rival fans.
