Michigan State football landed its quarterback of the 2024 class in three-star Henry Hasselbeck on Friday night over Boston College and Pitt.
Mel Tucker kept things rolling on Friday night, ending the month of June with a bang, landing three-star quarterback Henry Hasselbeck from Massachusetts over Pitt and Boston College.
Michigan State football had been the favorite for a couple of weeks ever since his official visit and since the Spartans offered, things moved quickly. They went from outsiders in his recruitment to frontrunners in no time. That’s a testament to Tucker and his staff. Plus, this could be another opportunity to prove that they know how to evaluate talent — AJ Dennis is already proving that.
This commitment finally gives Michigan State its 2024 quarterback after missing out on guys like Jake Merklinger, Davi Belfort, and Miles O’Neill.
Michigan State is up to 10 commitments in the 2024 class which is ranked No. 56 nationally. It could soon see an uptick on July 1 with Justin Denson making his decision public.
Moreover, the Spartans are looking to land Nick Marsh on July 7 and now that he knows who his quarterback would be, that may sway him toward East Lansing. He was committed once already, why not re-join the class and shut it down?
No matter what Marsh chooses, Michigan State’s 2024 commits loved the Hasselbeck news.
Here are some of the 2024 recruits weighing in on Michigan State’s newest commit and potential quarterback of the future.
The recruits seem to love it although not all of them have weighed in on Twitter. Reggie Powers showed some love on Instagram along with current Spartans Stanton Ramil, Jaelen Smith, and Ademola Faleye.
And potential 2023 QB1 even weighed in on the commitment.
Everyone seems to be on board with this addition and maybe this will set off a domino effect since the class has finally found its QB1.
June was a really good month for the Spartans, but don’t sleep on July.
