Michigan State football: Could next 4-star 2024 commit be looming?

Could the next four-star commit in the 2024 class be looming this week for Mel Tucker and Michigan State football?

It was just a couple weeks ago when Mel Tucker and Michigan State football picked up their latest two class of 2024 commitments. Now, as April winds down, another big Spartan target is set to make his commitment. This time, it’s 2024 four-star tight end prospect, Dylan Mesman.

Mesman hails from Saline, Mich., and is considered to be the 19th-best tight end in the class. He is also the eighth-ranked prospect from the state of Michigan, per 247Sports.

Michigan State has been recruiting him for some time now. He has taken a visit to East Lansing recently and was posting his photo shoot pictures on social media yesterday. The current timetable for Dylan’s decision has him narrowing down schools to his top-five on Wednesday, April 26. After that, he is scheduled to announce his decision Friday, April 28, at 6 p.m. ET from Saline High School.

The way the recruitment is trending, you have to feel good about MSU’s chances here. On3’s recruiting machine gives the Spartans at a 95 percent chance to land him even though he has recently visited Auburn. He holds offers from them and 19 other schools. MSU, Auburn, Purdue, Boston College, and Cincinnati seem to be the frontrunners.

There is one crystal ball on 247Sports for Dylan and it is placed for MSU, however, it has been for a while. MSU was an early leader in his recruitment and nothing has really come out to go against that.

Another thing that helps MSU’s chances is current 2024 commit Andrew Dennis. The offensive line commit has seemed to become friends with Mesman and they are often commenting on each other’s social media posts. Mesman was one of the first to congratulate Dennis for his commitment to MSU earlier this month. Andrew also was quick to say that he will help in recruitment in other players after he committed to the Spartans and he has done so. He has been seen liking all things MSU related on Dylan’s posts and has been vocal about getting more commitments for the 2024 class quickly.

Landing another four-star recruit to the 2024 class would be a big momentum boost for Tuck and staff heading into the summer. Of course, landing another talented pass-catcher for our offense would also be a big boost as well.
