While Michigan State football has been catching eyes with their 2027 offers and visits, the staff also remains focused on securing the future and starting strong with the class of 2028. The Spartans recently extended an offer out into that class of rising sophomores, with Brodie Metzger of Hills-Beaver Creek High School (Minn.) receiving an offer.

What to Know on Brodie Metzger

Metzger is a true athlete, with the 6-foot-4 prospect taking reps at receiver and linebacker for Hills-Beaver Creek in 2025. The Spartans appear to be evaluating him at linebacker, with Max Bullough as the primary person offering Metzger.

Metzger shows some intrigue at other elements, too, as it appears defensive line coach Winston DeLattiboudere III and LeVar Woods each were involved in the recruitment as well.

Hills-Beaver Creek High School won a state title last season, blitzing to a 13-0 record, and they are currently rated as a top-100 football team in the nation and the top team from Minnesota, per MaxPreps.

As it stands with the 2028 class, Metzger has yet to receive a ranking, but when it happens, it will be high, potentially as a four- or five-star.

Who is Michigan State Football Competing With?

The Spartans are squaring off against plenty of top opponents on the recruiting trail. They jump into a race right as Penn State offered, also joining Illinois, Iowa, and Minnesota from the Big 10, and Iowa State is Metzger’s other Power Four offer.

The Minnesota athlete will have no shortage of suitors as the recruiting process extends throughout his junior season of high school.

Michigan State Football 2028 Class Update

Metzger becomes the 43rd offer of the 2028 class and sixth among projected linebackers. Unsurprisingly, the Spartans are one of many teams that sit without a commit for the class, as early signing day for 2028 does not even begin for almost 19 more months.
