Michigan State football went to Bishop Gorman and offered a quartet of elite recruits all ranked in the top-150 nationally.
Jonathan Smith and the Michigan State football staff are hard at work right now recruiting the 2025 class. That includes going out and physically visiting many of their top priority recruits as well as handing out many new offers to recruits as well.
These recruits receiving offers are spread out all throughout the country.
However, one group of elite high school teammates all recently received offers from Michigan State.
Four high school teammates offered by MSU
It’s not uncommon for two high school teammates to both be offered by the same school. Three is pretty rare but I’ve seen it before as well. But four teammates? I’m not sure I’ve ever seen that outside of the well known high school powerhouses like IMG in Florida — Bishop Gorman is also a powerhouse, though.
Michigan State has identified four recruits from Bishop Gorman in Las Vegas and have made offers to them all. These four players are all extremely talented, all being ranked inside the top 140 of the 2025 class.
Offensive linemen
Three of the four teammates offered by Michigan State are all on the offensive line. Can you imagine having three linemen playing together in high school all in the top 140 of their recruiting class? That seems unfair to opponents.
The first lineman offered by MSU is Seuseu “SJ” Alofaituli who is about as good as they come in high school. According to 247Sports, he is a four-star recruit and the No. 36 overall player in his class. He is also the No. 2 player in the country at his position and the best player from Nevada.
The second lineman offered by the Spartans is ranked just as highly as Alofaituli. Douglas Utu is also a four-star and is the No. 90 player in their class. He is the No. 10 offensive tackle in the 2025 class and is the second ranked player in Nevada.
Lastly, there is fellow four-star interior offensive lineman Alai Kalaniuvalu. He checks in as the No. 136 player in the 2025 class and fourth-best player in Nevada.
As I mentioned, this just seems unfair to have this much talent all on the same high school team. Three of the top four players in all of Nevada also play on the same offensive line, wouldn’t that be something if they all came to East Lansing?
The lone wide receiver
The fun doesn’t stop there as one more teammate also received an offer from Michigan State football. This time it’s four-star wide receiver Derek Meadows. He is ranked just as highly as his three linemen, coming in as the No. 112 player in the class and No. 11 receiver. He also is the No. 3 player in the state of Nevada as well.
Yes, you read that correctly. These four recruits are the top four players in Nevada, and Michigan State is recruiting them all from the same school. Like I said before, I don’t know I’ve ever seen something like this and I’m not sure we will again for quite some time.
Unfortunately, I find it very unlikely all four players decide to come to MSU. Sometimes high school teammates like to go to the same college, but all four choosing to do so seems nearly impossible.
Michigan State winning even just one of these recruitments would be great. They are all elite recruits who undoubtedly would contribute here at MSU. Selling recruits outside of the Midwest to come up and play in Michigan is no easy task, but if anyone can do it, I believe Jonathan Smith can.
