Former Michigan State star Draymond Green had beef with Jordan Poole before the season. He attributes that to the Warriors’ playoff exit.
Could the Warriors be facing the end of a dynasty? That’s the question on everyone’s minds after Golden State was bounced in the Western Conference Semifinals last week by the Lakers. It just felt like the end of an era between Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green.
There’s going to be constant speculation regarding the future of the roster, especially with Draymond entering free agency, but he believes that the Warriors should still be playing.
He also admitted that it was because of an incident that he caused that the team is watching the Western Conference Finals instead of partaking in them.
On Tuesday night, he appeared on Stephen A. Smith’s stream of Game 1 on ESPN and said that the incident between him and former Michigan Wolverine Jordan Poole held him back from being the leader that he wanted to be. He said it took him until February to really get his voice back and things were too far gone at that point.
It’s interesting to hear him talk about the incident so freely and admit that he wasn’t himself this season. He said he took a step back and let others find their voices but when he got comfortable, the team was already set in its ways.
Draymond showed during the Warriors’ two rounds in this year’s playoffs that he did get his voice back. He was a leader and it was clear. But Golden State just didn’t show up when it mattered against the Lakers.
It’s weird to see the Warriors sitting at home as the conference finals are happening.
Will we see Draymond in a Warriors uniform next season or will he be starting fresh somewhere else? It would be nice to see him come home to the Pistons.
