Florida State trying to land Keon Coleman and top 2024 MSU commit

Florida State is pursuing two Michigan State players. One is Keon Coleman and the other is top 2024 commit Jamari Howard.

We all knew this was going to happen. When Michigan State has top talent, other schools always come calling. That’s the case for Keon Coleman as well as top 2024 commit Jamari Howard.

Florida State is reportedly getting an official visit from Coleman soon after he entered his name into the transfer portal on Sunday. Not stopping there, the Seminoles are also reportedly trying to flip four-star commit Jamari Howard from the Spartans. He is the current top-ranked pledge in Michigan State’s 2024 class.

This is a VIP article on 247Sports with quotes, but basically, the Seminoles are pushing to keep Howard home as he’s a Hialeah, Fla., product. And Florida State is not alone in pushing for Howard to flip as Miami is also partaking in the recruitment. He’s also received offers from Cincinnati, Georgia Tech, and Nebraska since the calendar turned to 2023.

Howard is the No. 75 overall recruit and eighth-best cornerback in the 2024 class, according to 247Sports. Mel Tucker knew he would have to fight to the end to keep him.

If Coleman commits to Florida State after his official visit and is able to flip Howard, the Spartans will need to schedule a future home-and-home with the Seminoles because that’s a rivalry that all of fans will have. No one in East Lansing will have a soft spot for Florida State if that happens.

It already looks as if Florida State is the favorite to land Keon Coleman in the transfer portal after getting an official visit scheduled (his only once since entering) but Tucker will be fighting off Mike Norvell and Co. times two over the next couple of weeks and months.
