Just days after Michigan State football flipped three-star Western Michigan running back commit Zion Gist, the Spartans look like they’re about to flip another prospect.
This time, it’s a Power Four prospect by the name of Terrance Edwards.
According to the crystal ball predictions on 247Sports, Edwards looks increasingly likely to flip his commitment from West Virginia to Michigan State following a visit to East Lansing on Nov. 22. The three-star defensive back has been committed to West Virginia since June but Jonathan Smith liked what he saw from his film and got him to campus last weekend.
And with West Virginia not exactly having the season it expected, Smith moved in and sold some hope regarding Michigan State. While the Spartans aren’t having the best season either, they might end up making a bowl game in Smith’s first year which would be the first berth for Michigan State since 2021. It’s hard to believe that Michigan State has been to one bowl game since 2019, but that’s how rough the post-Mark Dantonio era has been.
Edwards is still committed to West Virginia, but he posted a teaser for Nov. 27 at 3 p.m. ET on his X page on Tuesday.
To me, this means that he’s making a commitment announcement on Wednesday afternoon. It’s likely either him announcing he’s staying with the Mountaineers’ 2025 class or he’s flipping to the green and white. And all signs are pointing to the latter.
Edwards is a solid “athlete” prospect, ranked No. 693 overall nationally and he’s the No. 47 athlete on 247Sports. The projected defensive back holds offers from Clemson, Colorado, Florida State, Indiana, Louisville, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, NC State, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Penn State, and Tennessee, among others. That’s quite the offer sheet for “just a three-star” recruit.
Michigan State football fans might finally get some more good recruiting news on Wednesday.
