Michigan State football has landed talented three-star tight end Jayden Savoury who should rise in the ranks.
After a third straight weekend of hosting prospects on official visits, the Michigan State football staff received some good news Monday. According to 247Sports Corey Robinson, the Spartans landed their ninth commit of the 2025 cycle when tight end Jayden Savoury officially declared his intention to play for the Spartans.
According to 247Sports, Jayden ranks as the 16th-best prospect in the state of Michigan.
Savoury is a 6-foot-6, 220-pound tight end who plays his high school ball at Orchard Lake St Mary’s. The Spartans beat out several other schools in Jayden’s recruitment. He had 18 total offers. Some of the other notable ones included Duke, BYU, Northwestern, Rutgers, Penn State, and West Virginia. Savoury had other official visits set up with Duke and BYU this week but after his official visit a couple of weeks ago and some major pursuit from the coaches and other MSU recruits, he decided to join the squad now.
The three-star is a highly-athletic talent and is relatively new to football. He started playing it originally in elementary school, however, he gave it up to focus on basketball. He didn’t start playing football again until his sophomore year of high school. As a junior this past season (his first full season back) he made the All-Catholic League team. He is also a dedicated student who has a 3.8 GPA.
As mentioned with the basketball background, the athleticism in Savoury’s game is off the charts. His ball skills and hand-eye coordination are off the charts. He also shows some pretty solid movement and quick twitch skills for someone as big as he is. His ceiling is pretty high because of this. He has quickly picked the game up to be able to play it at a high level. Having the chance to go to an FBS program and be developed by top-tier coaching.
On top of having a very high ceiling, I think he fits with the current Michigan State football tight end recruits from this and last class well. MSU has already landed an all-around, high-end talent in this cycle in Emmett Bork. They also received a commitment from a tight end in the 2024 class named Wyatt Hook whose role seems like it may fit similarly to Savoury’s. He is also a big target, high upside prospect.
Savoury will join current high school teammate Charles White in East Lansing. Jonathan Smith and his staff vowed early to hit the ground running in recruiting the state of Michigan. This has been proven to be a major priority. Orchard Lake St Mary’s seems to be one of the early favorites of the staff. White and Savoury mark the first two commits from there. This upcoming weekend will see their teammates Bryson Williams and Antonio Johnson coming to campus as well. What a pipeline the Spartans seem to be setting up there.
Welcome to East Lansing, Jayden.
