Who knew a venue change for Michigan State would cause so much controversy?

The location of the final Michigan State game of 2023 vs. Penn State has been moved to Ford Field and it caused a civil war.

I, for one, am very biased on the venue change for Michigan State vs. Penn State on Black Friday to Ford Field given I’m from the east side of Michigan and I travel back every holiday season.

You can be certain that ChopMan and rest of the family will be in attendance.

Who knew moving a game 90 minutes away would divide a fanbase like it was a political election?

What I imagine happened in the war room was a bunch of leaders trying to find a solution to a lowly attended football game. Honestly, I can’t blame them. Unless you’re a true football guy, you’re choosing to spend Thanksgiving with family, especially if you don’t live within close vicinity of East Lansing.

The solution agreed upon is similar to Patrick Star’s for Bikini Bottom: ‘We should take MSU vs. PSU and push it somewhere else.’

Let’s break down the pros and cons.

Pros

• Beer sales
• Warm
• Kids get to play in an NFL stadium
• Primetime

Cons

• No snowballs
• Season ticket holders get screwed (kinda)
• Lose a true home game

Honestly, I do see both sides of the argument but people who argue you need to ‘put a good product on the field’ are wrong. Whether MSU football is playing for its 12th win of the season or 12th loss, the attendance is always weak. Just a mixture of holidays and cold weather (mostly the holiday).

With that all being said: I’m still going to have fun. Why? Because it is college football and college football is the greatest sport in America no matter where it’s played. Game in Antarctica? I’m watching. Game in the desert? I’m watching. Under water? Also watching. At the end of the day, it’s a big game and we should be excited no matter where we play.
