It’s been a forgettable past month for Michigan State football dating back to that loss to Michigan.
Since then, the Spartans have lost to Illinois, Indiana, and Rutgers by large margins while also losing Jace Clarizio to Alabama and now there are rumors that a position coach could be on the move which is actually directly impacting the 2025 recruiting class just ahead of signing day.
While I won’t get into the speculation, one tweet from a 2025 commit will tell you most of what you need to know about the rumors.
Zamorano is one of the highest-ranked commits in Michigan State’s 2025 class, listed as the No. 588 recruit nationally and 49th-best cornerback, per 247Sports. His “decisions, decisions” tweet alludes to some rumors about a position coach that may be on the move and it sounds like Zamorano could join him at his next destination.
Obviously, we all hope these rumors don’t come to fruition, but with how quickly things work in the offseason in the college football world, it wouldn’t be all that surprising to see it happen within the next week. Plus, with signing day approaching, schools are trying to get deals done.
Losing Zamorano would be a huge blow to the 2025 class and the rumored position coach would be a massive loss as well.
Jonathan Smith faces his most important offseason as Michigan State head coach as he’s no longer facing a “next season is a wash” situation with year one in the books and a 5-7 record to show for it. He can no longer rest easy due to the fact that he just initiated a major rebuild. He needs to show results right away and Michigan State football fans are rather impatient.
If things are going to improve soon in East Lansing, Smith needs to live in the portal.
Oh, and finding replacements for Zamorano and a potential position coach will be crucial.
